In 2016, inspired by a trip to Mexico and the discovery of wild Agave americana plants in their home area, the idea of establishing a sustainable craft distillery took root for one family. Their guiding principles were to minimize environmental impact while producing top-quality spirits.
To achieve their vision, they modified a 200-litre stainless steel drum into a still with the help of a local engineering firm. A commitment to sustainability led them to install second-hand solar panels, providing the energy needed to power the distillery and its equipment.
After much experimentation, Black Snake Distillery successfully produced Pure Gin as a secondary product. However, their main focus was always on crafting the agave spirit, known as ASp, following the Mexican production methods as a guide. The ASp is predominantly Joven, with plans for Reposado and Anejo lines in the future.
Looking ahead, Black Snake Distillery is dedicated to continual improvement in their processes, products, and sustainability efforts, ensuring a bright future for their unique distillery.
